Sowing Precious Seed

“He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him,” Psalm 126:6.
Take a moment and consider a humble farmer, diligently working to support his family. He understands the importance of the task at hand, and he sows the seed carefully and with great intention. He rises early and labors long, meticulously caring for the crops he has planted. He pours his heart, soul, sweat and tears into the fields, continually praying for a good harvest. He waits patiently on the Lord to bless his hard work and provide. Imagine his great joy when he receives abundant yields from his crops and great reward for his labor!
Jesus often used sowing seed as a metaphor for spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ (Matthew 13:1-23). He then entrusted His church with the special mission of teaching all nations and making disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). What a privilege we have been afforded to be a part of such a glorious calling! We have the truth of the gospel that the world so desperately needs. The precious seed of God’s Word has the power to save souls and change the eternal destiny of those bound for hell. We have a grave responsibility to spread the Word that Jesus saves.
Unfortunately, many of God’s people openly admit they do not share Christ with others. This must make the adversary very happy. Brothers and sisters, we have a purpose much greater than ourselves. We have received such precious salvation in Jesus Christ, and it is to be shared. Be diligent to sow the seed of the gospel everywhere you go. You will no doubt face hardship and discouragement along the way. The message of Christ will be rejected more than accepted, no doubt. But do not give in, keep pressing on. The Lord of the harvest has great rewards and eternal blessings awaiting.

REFLECTION
Trust God with the outcome. You never know who you may see in Heaven some day because of your witness.
