Victory by God’s Power

“And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord, that I will cut off thy horses out of the midst of thee, and I will destroy thy chariots,” Micah 5:10.
In 2014, my father suffered a major stroke that paralyzed the left side of his body. The movement of his left arm slowly returned but the left leg would not budge. It became clear that without the function of his left leg he would need continual care that my parents could not afford. We needed that left leg to move! Dad received physical therapy three times a day every day. He had wonderful doctors and therapists that were doing all they could. We began to look at the feasibility of taking care of him ourselves. My sister and I were trained in using a Hoyer lift to hoist Dad up each time he needed to move. Dad was a large man at that time, and it did not go well. We were out of options. We cried out to the Lord, “You have the power to restore movement in this dead leg. Lord, please help us.”
There are times the Lord will not answer our prayers until all other avenues have failed. He wants us to recognize the fact that it is only by His mighty power that we are victorious. At Christ’s second coming, He will take away everything that Israel had ever trusted in instead of the Lord. Horses, chariots, strongholds, soothsayers and graven images will all be destroyed. David wrote, “Some trust in chariots, and some in horses: but we will remember the name of the Lord our God” (Psalm 20:7).
The Lord restored Dad’s left leg after we had finally trusted in Him alone. Our family was able to tell everyone that Almighty God gave our dad healing when everything else had failed. It was an amazing witness of the power of God.

REFLECTION
Is God removing the things you trust in most? Allow Him to do His work in you.
