Daily Devotional for Sunday, November 9
God Made Everything
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him,” Ecclesiastes 3:11, 14.
The concluding verses before this teach that even the bad things will turn out beautiful. People often say, “Do not worry, it will work out.” This is difficult to hear in the midst of a devastating circumstance, but there is truth in this statement. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose” (Romans 8:28).
If you have been through any situation that has caused heartache and it has been difficult to hang on to your faith, you have seen God work things out for your good. This good is not always that the circumstances come together in the way you would want, but through it, your faith has been strengthened and hopefully you have learned more about the faithfulness and goodness of God.
God does all things with an eternal perspective, which is difficult for you to think and see things from the same way. Often things are seen from the physical aspect because this is the world in which you live. The disciples had the same problem. Jesus would use the things in the physical world to teach a spiritual lesson, but many times they did not get it. A great example of this is found in John 6:31-42. Jesus told them, “I am the bread of life” (verse 35). And they were confused because they thought about the manna from Heaven when their ancestors were in the wilderness.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Believe God, put your trust in Him daily to lead you and guide you.
Let Him work things out for your good.
