Vision of the Locust
“Thus hath the Lord God shewed unto me; and, behold, he formed grasshoppers in the beginning of the shooting up of the latter growth; and, lo, it was the latter growth after the king’s mowings. And it came to pass, that when they had made an end of eating the grass of the land, then I said, O Lord God, forgive, I beseech thee: by whom shall Jacob arise? for he is small,” Amos 7:1, 2.
If you could look into the future, that would be a tremendous benefit in life, it would help you avoid mistakes or do more to help your life be better. The Lord provided Amos a look into the future plans that He had for Israel. The Lord’s plan was to consume Israel by the judgments He would bring upon the nation. The Lord would bring judgment upon Israel because of their lackadaisical spiritual attitudes, Israel had also taken up the behaviors and patterns of the heathen nations , they had become arrogant and seemed as if they did not believe that they needed the Lord.
Amos, besought God for forgiveness for Israel. Through His Word, God has revealed the impending judgment that is coming upon those who reject the salvation that He offers. Those who are lost are unconcerned about a proper relationship with God. God still gives His churches the responsibility to declare His Word and warnings. Christians know what God’s Word says about the future of a person that does not have a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. You should be motivated to tell the lost about God’s forgiveness of sin and His power to save them from eternal damnation. God also intercedes for believers who are in need of being restored to a right relationship with the Lord and committing their lives to a proper relationship with a local church.
FINAL THOUGHT
Since we have been given warning of God’s impending judgement,
we should warn others so they can be saved.
