Wisdom’s Value
“Receive my instruction, and not silver; and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it,” Proverbs 8:10, 11.
What is one thing children and adults do not like to hear? “Wait!” This is one word everyone needs to learn because it teaches us patience and perseverance. If this word is taught early on, then it becomes easier as an adult to wait.
I say this because many people go to great lengths to pursue the riches of this world. Yet, as a child of God, you are rich. Heaven will be full of every gem man could ever desire. One day you will be walking the street of gold! You will be going through the gates of pearl. You will see the foundations of the walls made of many precious stones. And yes, you must wait to see all the beauty that Heaven holds. In the meantime though, you have access to true riches.
According to God’s Word, instruction in righteous living is worth more than anything found in or upon the earth. It is through the blood of Christ you can walk righteously. Wisdom is far greater than anything you can acquire or consume in this life. The greatest gift God will give to you while you walk with Him is wisdom. Wisdom means you will receive the instructions of His Word. Wisdom means you will have knowledge and understanding that surpasses the great minds of men and women who have had notable careers or education.
What are you seeking after in this life? Spiritual or eternal riches which will lead you to have peace, joy and contentment? Or is your desire for the worldly and temporal things that will burn up one day? If you take the time to seek Him, He will take care of your needs. In addition, He sometimes will give you things you desire.
SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
God desires to give good gifts to His children. However, the spiritual gift of wisdom far exceeds them all.
